5th Teddy Bear Parachute & Zip-line

Teddy Bear Parachute & Zip-line: Sunday 13 August 2023

Due to extremely windy conditions on the day, it was decided that, unfortunately, parachuting would be just too dangerous for our brave bears and intrepid toys: a couple of trial jumps on the day had resulted in “Green Green Jelly Bean Bear” and a friend being blown into a tree, where they sat (quite comfortably) on a branch for 24 hours before we could rescue them!  Never mind, the zip-line proved a brilliant back-up, and around 140 bears and toys whizzed down from the top of our 66ft tower!

Huge thanks go to Sue Burman for her incredible efforts in organising this fantastic event every year; to everyone who helped on the day, especially David and Peter on top of the tower; to David Clayton from BBC Radio Norfolk for introducing us to each bear and toy, and talking them safely to the ground; to all who donated some wonderful raffle prizes and, finally, to everybody who came to Wickhampton with their beloved bears, sloths, unicorns, Spidermen, turtles and crocodiles (among so many other species!) and helped raise over £1,100 towards repairs and maintenance to this very special church.  Fantastic effort!
